巨人の肩の上に立つ · spacealtctrl .NET

こんな投稿は二度と書かずに済むといいんですが。それよりも GrapheneOS を新しく面白いやり方で壊していたいです。でも時々、「オープンソースって混沌としてるよね」の範囲を越えて、ただのタダ乗りになるものが出てきて、黙って見過ごすわけにはいかなくなります。

7月に ReSukiSU Ultima をリリースしました。その中でも特にものすごく時間をかけた大きな機能が2つあります：

Sentinel - カーネル側で root の探りを検出する機能。アプリごとのクローク、リアルタイムの検出履歴、自動クローク、そして「許可／クローク／無視」の通知付きです。
Zygisk 内蔵（Zygisk-Ultima）- 別の Zygisk プロバイダーを重ねてフラッシュしなくて済むようにするためのものです。

どちらも公開されていて、GPL で、上流へのクレジットもすべて明記しています。ソースはずっと GitHub に置いてあります。

そこへ samakshkambxj が現れました。
彼は ReSukiSU のフォークである OriginSU を公開しています。それは構いません。フォークは許されています。問題なのは、彼がコードに何をしたかです：

私の Sentinel の実装は一括置換（sentinel → veil）され、Origin Veil として名前を変えられました。同じ関数、同じコメント、同じ重複排除のロジック、同じクロークセットの挙動。ヘッダーのコメントですら、ほぼ私のものがそのまま残っています。
私が先に出した Zygisk 内蔵のやり方も同じ扱いを受けて、OriginZygisk になりました。

彼はこのリポジトリを気に入ってくれました。そして、自分版を作ったわけです。

並べて見比べてみてください。これはインスピレーションではありません。ただの名前の変更です。
で、クレジットのページは？
ReSukiSU、SukiSU-Ultra、KernelSU、Magisk、SUSFS…おなじみの顔ぶれです。
彼がコピーして名前を変えたカーネルコードを実際に書いた人間については、一言も触れていません。

私は自分の作品について、いつもこの点に厳しくしてきました。私のどの投稿を見ても、「CreditWhereIt’sDue」のセクションがちゃんとあるのには理由があります。GPL は「コードを持っていっていい」という意味だけではありません。一括で名前を置き換えたあとで、その成果が何もないところから湧いて出たかのように装わない、という意味でもあるんです。

フォークしてもらうのは大歓迎です。改良してもらうのも大歓迎です。我慢できないのは、成果を持っていって、名前を剥がし、自分のブランドを貼り付けて、さも自分で作ったかのように振る舞う人たちです。
他人の肩の上に立つのなら、せめてそれが誰の肩なのかを言うくらいの礼儀は持ってほしい。 samakshkambxj にはそれがありませんでした。

さて、明るいニュースもあります。来年の Oasis のチケットを取りました！最高に嬉しいです！

  You've credited me as inspiration. Your own porting plan says something else ([docs/feature-porting-plan.md](https://github.com/samakshkambxj/OriginSU/blob/8a163023/docs/feature-porting-plan.md)):

  Reverse the rename and diff `veil.c`/`veil.h` against my [sentinel.c](https://github.com/spacealtctrl/ReSukiSU-Ultima/blob/main/kernel/feature/sentinel.c)/[sentinel.h](https://github.com/spacealtctrl/ReSukiSU-Ultima/blob/main/kernel/feature/sentinel.h). Out of ~740 lines, the only changes are an `arch.h` include, `PT_REGS_PARM2`, and the feature ID name.
  
  Porting GPL code is fine. Calling it inspiration isn't accurate, and GPL-2.0 section 2(a) requires modified files to say they were changed. Please:
  
  1. Add a header to `veil.c`/`veil.h` saying they're derived from ReSukiSU Ultima's Sentinel by spacealtctrl, with your changes
  2. Change the credit from "inspired by" to "Origin Veil is based on Sentinel from ReSukiSU Ultima"'

i will add the required license files and headers, only on my one condition, that you stop harassing me around and give an apology to the damage you've done to my reputation as a blog here, accusing of stealing code without even checking proper commits, i agree its my mistake i didnt add the headers in the first place, i should've done that, but this doesnt mean you will falsely accuse me of stealing code and threaten me around. If you wanna sort this out feel free to reach me on my tg as you did before, respectfully this time.

  The blog stays. Not deleting a word.
  Your site markets OriginSU as having “its own identity” and opens with “Hiding built in, not bolted on. Veil cloaking, bundled Zygisk.” Those two things are the entire pitch. Both are mine. Origin Veil is Sentinel with the name swapped - same detection, same cloak set, same history, same comments, same structure. The bundled Zygisk is the exact approach I shipped so no one needed a separate provider. You lifted them, renamed them, and sold them as what makes OriginSU different.
  You already admitted the headers were missing. Adding them after the post went up doesn’t undo taking the work and passing it off as yours. The reputation hit is yours. You caused it.
  I blocked you because you and your mates piled on with abuse on Telegram for being caught. That’s not harassment from me. That’s you and them. The commits and side-by-sides stay up. Credit the source properly if you want to (A good dev would).
  No apology for stating what the code shows. I have absolutely nothing to be sorry for.
